Volvo cars begins production of the all-new fully electric Volvo ES90
Volvo Cars has started production of the new fully electric Volvo ES90 for European markets — a major milestone on the company’s journey toward an all-electric future.
Designed for a balanced and harmonious life, the ES90 combines safety, technology, and versatility in a refined electric sedan. It is the first Volvo to feature 800-volt technology, offering greater range and faster charging than any previous electric Volvo.
At its core, the ES90 is built on state-of-the-art safety technologies, while its design embodies timeless Scandinavian elegance. The sedan runs on a new-generation computing core and Volvo’s proprietary Superset technology stack — enabling regular software updates that allow the car to improve over time.
Pre-orders for the new ES90 in Ukraine are already open, with the model expected to arrive at official Volvo dealerships in the first quarter of 2026. The first owners will receive their ES90s at the beginning of 2026.
“The fully electric ES90 represents an important step for Volvo Cars toward a new era of safety, sustainability, and user-focused technology,” said Francesca Gamboni, Chief Operating Officer at Volvo Cars. “Production has already begun, reaffirming our commitment to an all-electric future and our ability to innovate while meeting customer needs.”
Following its world premiere in March this year, it became clear that the ES90 creates its own segment in the automotive market. The model blends the refined elegance of a sedan with the adaptability of a fastback, offering a spacious interior and higher ground clearance — features typically found in SUVs.
By combining the strengths of three categories, the ES90 establishes a new one — a truly versatile vehicle without compromises in comfort or space.
As a fully electric zero-emission sedan, the ES90 reflects Volvo Cars’ commitment to sustainability — from climate-neutral manufacturing to circular-economy principles and responsible business practices. The vehicle is produced at the Volvo Cars plant in Chengdu using climate-neutral energy. According to the company’s Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) Report released in July, the ES90 has one of the lowest carbon footprints of any Volvo car to date.
